There seems to be a dearth of blog posts up here that are actually representative of ... anarchists.
We already had someone trash talking security culture, but now we've got someone telling us to vote. And for a white supremacist lady-hatin' libertarian lunatic, no less.
So in case it needed to be said, anarchists aren't just sad, bitter and angry because the politicians in office suck and are ruining everything and it could all be fixed if we just had a good politician in charge, by jingo. We're sad, bitter and angry because we hate authority in all its forms, as the damage it causes should be readily apparent to anyone from whose eyes the scales have fallen.
I can't imagine how this scenario would be even hypothetically possible, but if someone with my exact views were running for office [yeahiknow], I still wouldn't vote for her. Like a good anarchist, I want electoral politics to be dismantled completely and replaced with decentralized local power. Like a good anarchist, I can think of no better power structure than to have communities collectively making decisions on matters that affect them. Anything else is tyranny. And tyranny fucking sucks.

But more to the point, the electoral model of democracy operates by creating and empowering a separate political class which of course serves it's own needs. I would be very happy to be involved in a society practicing participatory democracy, but electoral democracy is at best a dead-end and at worst a path to fascism when the political class it empowers unites with the private capital class against the population as a whole, whether we speak of classical fascist societies in the 20th century or as for example has happened in the U.S.

New here. Even if the electoral system wasn't a fraud and a fake, it would still be illegitimate if all votes were appropriately counted. Anything involving delegates is not direct democracy. Period. Your votes technically mean nothing-- just look at this superdelegate crap with Obama and Hillary-- the political hacks will decide, screw the people, even IF those pledged delegates are honest. So f---ed.
In any case, I think voting for local city or county officials is overall positive to strengthen local leaders, while not legitimizing national elections. If people see that voting locally makes a difference in their lives (which it can I think), then it will make national politics look useless by comparison, which is what we want. Only 8 percent of people vote for local officials or positions. Those people are generally separated from the shittiness that is national or state-level electoral process.
Remember, American libertarians are an odd (and embarrassing) offshoot of European style "libertarian socialists", which are anarchists in the model of the spanish revolution early last century. So we have skepticism of state power in common, but the usefulness of their constant pro-business lobbying(from the CATO institute for example) has kept them around, but politically sidelined from the process due to their inconvenient (for the elite) and I think healthy anti-state positions.
We need to find points of agreement, without being so strident and exclusive as a community that we alienate potential allies on various issues. The spanish only got where they did cause they utilized the strengths of the whole community of anti-fascists and anti-soviets, regardless of important differences of opinion. They drew on the strengths of everyone, and it moved in the right direction organically.
