Silly, anarchists don't vote!

There seems to be a dearth of blog posts up here that are actually representative of ... anarchists.

We already had someone trash talking security culture, but now we've got someone telling us to vote. And for a white supremacist lady-hatin' libertarian lunatic, no less.

So in case it needed to be said, anarchists aren't just sad, bitter and angry because the politicians in office suck and are ruining everything and it could all be fixed if we just had a good politician in charge, by jingo. We're sad, bitter and angry because we hate authority in all its forms, as the damage it causes should be readily apparent to anyone from whose eyes the scales have fallen.

I can't imagine how this scenario would be even hypothetically possible, but if someone with my exact views were running for office [yeahiknow], I still wouldn't vote for her. Like a good anarchist, I want electoral politics to be dismantled completely and replaced with decentralized local power. Like a good anarchist, I can think of no better power structure than to have communities collectively making decisions on matters that affect them. Anything else is tyranny. And tyranny fucking sucks.

Local Politics

Okay, so national/federal elections are a sham. We have almost no control over who they are or what they do. But seriously, you think local politics is better? Maybe in the fact that we can see who they are and what they are doing a little better. But can representative government ever let the people dictate instead of "representatives"? Can we decide things through others on a local level?

First off, my family has been involved in town, state, local government stuff my whole life. The politicians and beuracrats invovled in local politics are just as disgusting as any federal representative. The corruption and just general vindictiveness we see in federal government is all over local politics. The vendettas and personal beefs are probably worse. If we roll over and give anyone OUR power, they are going to be shitty with it. Sooner or later, one person or another, they are going to be shitty - its systematic- its oppression.

I agree with the above comment that your vote is worthless. Not on the grounds of superdelegates or electoral colleges, but on the grounds that others cannot represent me. It is impossible when representing even one other person. If you are representing others, they are not me, you are not representing me. I for one give no such blanket consent. Representation itself is a very negative act, willingly letting ones power be stolen by another. Democracy- Rank and file control- in our nieghborhoods, our schools, our workplaces, and our homes - this is the ultimate goal, this is the endgame. It is the only way to systematically curb oppression in our societal lives.
