Call-Out:

You are cordially invited to a regional- Maine, New Brunswick, P.E.I., Nova Scotia, Newfoundland- consulta to communicate, coordinate, and build upon current organizing and resistance to ATLANTICA.

The aims of the consulta are to highlight ongoing efforts across the region, identify areas in which we can effectively organize and resist, and to develop strategies to work together in these areas.

For a sense of what the consulta will look like, please see the proposed agenda. The agenda is, of course, open to modification and improvements.

The consulta will bring together anti-capitalist individuals and groups around the PGA hallmarks (See bottom).

We ask those attending the consulta to adhere to the hallmarks insofar as they inform the space created at the consulta, and the organizing that
comes out of the consulta.

The consulta will be held in Fredericton on April 26th, from 10.30am to 3.30pm, at Renaissance College.

-A vegan lunch will be provided.
-The space is wheelchair accessible, and the bathrooms are non-gender
specific.
-Childcare will also be provided, if needed.

In order to encourage as many people from across the region to attend, we are organizing billeting in fredericton, and offering transportation
subsidies.

Agenda:

Agenda preamble-- This agenda includes many references to activities in June 2007, but we in no way intend to suggest that june 2007 was a pinnacle of successful/unsuccessful organizing nor do we intend to prioritize convergences over other forms of resistance.

We do not intend to dismiss other organizing, mobilizing and resistance against Atlantica by framing things as pre- and post- June 2007.
However, we do think that June 2007 was likely the last time there was solid regional communication about Atlantica, and we are hoping this consulta can pick up where those conversations left off.

0. Introductions to the space and purpose of the consulta, and groups and individuals.

1. Discussion of previous atlantica organizing
*depending on attendance, this may include a more specific discussion of actions that took place in both saint john (2006) and halifax (2007)

2. Update on atlantica organizing since June 2007

3. Atlantica infrastructure and policy 2006-now: presentation and discussion

4. Next steps: what can we effectively organize around Atlantica over the next 6 months? 12 months? How can we incorporate Atlantica into current organizing efforts? Where can we improve upon current/past Atlantica organizing? What are people interested in working on?

5. Break-out groups: (for example, pop-ed, outreach, community consultation resistance, research and analysis, media, roadshow, etc.)

6. Report-backs from working groups

7. Maintaining communication and momentum over the coming months

PGA hallmarks:

1. A very clear rejection of capitalism, imperialism and feudalism; all trade agreements, institutions and governments that promote destructive globalisation.

2. We reject all forms and systems of domination and discrimination including, but not limited to, patriarchy, racism and religious fundamentalism of all creeds.

We embrace the full dignity of all human beings.

3. A confrontational attitude, since we do not think that lobbying can have a major impact in such biased and undemocratic organisations, in which transnational capital is the only real policy-maker.

4. A call to direct action and civil disobedience, support for social movements' struggles, advocating forms of resistance which maximize respect for life and oppressed peoples' rights, as well as the construction of local alternatives to global capitalism.

5. An organisational philosophy based on ecentralisation and autonomy.
