Valentine's Day Canceled: Providence Radical Queers Hit The Streets
What Queer?!, Providence, RI's radical queer collective, cordially invite YOU, your friends, your straight allies, and your date(s) to
a MOBILE STREET DANCE PARTY!
FEBRUARY 14 - 11:59 PM!
Meet @ Empire Street (15 Minute Walk From Train Station)
Providence, Rhode Island
Dance through downtown to the tunes of a brass band!
Make a scene! resist gay assimilation! smash heteronormativity!
(and the gender binary!)
(and capitalistic ways to show "love"!)
(and oppressive bullshit of all forms!)
(yeah!)
Gender bending encouraged, costumes encouraged, noisemakers encouraged,
sparkly things encouraged.
"For the crime of making single people feel alone and worthless.
For the crime of silencing queer people and people in non-monogamous
relationships.
For the crime of pressuring us into buying and spending - making us feel
like bad partners if we don't.
WE DECLARE: VALENTINE'S DAY CANCELED!
Instead of celebrating valentine's day, we take to the streets to
celebrate ourselves, to celebrate all kinds of love, to celebrate our
polyamourous relationships, to celebrate being single, to celebrate being
trans, gay, queer, and gender variant -
OUT OF THE BARS AND INTO THE
STREETS! QUEERS BASH BACK!"
