Join with the national Right to the City alliance to demand economic justice from the nation’s mayors who are meeting here in Providence.
48 hours of fun & protest, demands & DJs, socializing & social action.
Who? Right to the City is a nation-wide alliance of organizations and individuals working together to protect our right to the city: to live here, to work here, to play here, to be here. We fight for our human right to have a government that puts people first. Our goal is to strengthen the national urban movement around such issues as housing, jobs, education, and racial, economic, and environmental justice. Local Right to the City member organizations include the Olneyville Neighborhood Association (ONA) and Direct Action for Rights and Equality (DARE).
Why? The U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) is having its annual conference in Providence this year. The USCM is an organization for mayors and their “corporate business council allies.” The mayors meet each year to “promote the development of effective national urban policy.” Hundreds of mayors are supposed to converge on Providence to pass resolutions on what policies * they* think are best for our cities.
Let’s tell the mayors that WE know what is best for OUR cities!
Demand the stimulus money be used justly, with accountability!

Únete a la alianza nacional del Derecho a la Ciudad para demandar la justicia económica de los alcaldes de todo el país que vienen a reunirse en Providence.
48 horas de diversión y demandas, manifestaciones y merengue, lucha y liberación
¿Quien? Derecho a la Ciudad es una alianza nacional de organizaciones e individuos trabajando juntos para proteger nuestro derecho a la ciudad: a vivir acá, trabajar acá, jugar acá, y ESTAR acá. Luchamos por nuestro derecho humano al tener un gobierno que valga el pueblo sobre todo. Nuestra meta es el fortalecer el movimiento urbano nacional alrededor de temas tales como vivienda, trabajo, educación, la justicia racial, económica y medioambiental. Las organizaciones locales que son miembros de la alianza Derecho a la Ciudad son la Asociación de Vecinos de Olneyville (ONA) y DARE Acción Directa por los Derechos e Igualdad.
¿Por que? La Conferencia de Alcaldes de los EEUU (USCM por sus siglas en ingles) tiene su conferencia anual en Providence este año. La Conferencia es una organización para los alcaldes y sus aliados de “las cameras de comercio.” Los alcaldes se unen cada año para “promover el desarrollo de una política nacional eficaz al respeto las ciudades.” Habrá cientos de alcaldes uniéndose en Providence este año para pasar unas resoluciones sobre cuales políticas creen *ellos * son las mejores para nuestras ciudades.
¡Digámosle a los alcaldes que NOSOTROS sabemos que es lo mejor para NUESTRAS ciudades!
¡Demanda que el uso del dinero del estimulo sea justo, que haya un rendimiento de cuentas!
