"Rather than engage in endless legal battles at taxpayer expense, today President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order to dissolve the Commission, and he has asked the Department of Homeland Security to review its initial findings and determine next courses of action," White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.

The doctor applied to formally adopt the boy in Singapore to "legitimise" their relationship and hopefully secure him Singapore citizenship but a court rejected his bid, according to a judgement released earlier this week.
HANOI, Vietnam (AP) - Vietnamese prosecutors requested long jail terms on Thursday for former oil company executives accused of mismanagement or embezzlement, including an ex-senior Communist Party official and an executive whom government agents allegedly kidnapped from Germany.

"Putting the defendants on trial accomplishes a fight against corruption in which there are no no-go zones, no exemptions regardless of who the accused are," the state-run Tuoi Tre newspaper quoted a prosecutor as saying.
"Knowing that my two were effectively conceived at the same time, but then born two and a half years apart is also quite astounding. We are grateful every day for the science that allowed us to have our family."

There are concerns that a significant disruption could lead to a heating oil shortage as distillate inventories, including heating oil, in the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions are at their lowest levels for this time of year since 2015.
U.S. natural gas demand was expected to remain near record highs this week. Natural gas is the major fuel for residential and commercial heating in the U.S. Northeast and is also widely used by power plants.
"They have in common a low-wage workforce, relatively low education levels and the desire to change that," said Steven Barnett of the National Institute for Early Education Research. "Whatever they say, politicians in West Virginia know the future of their state is not coal miners."
"Via social networks, the defendants cooperated with an overseas reactionary organisation... which financed the purchase of weapons and petrol bombs for terrorism," read the verdict at the two-day trial, according to the newspaper.
Once a rising political star, Thang was dismissed from the all-powerful Politburo in May and was subsequently fired as Communist Party secretary of the southern commercial hub of Ho Chi Minh City. He was arrested on Dec. 8.

"Clearly, a statewide program would be so much better, and it should be available to all 3- and 4-year-olds. It's the best investment we can make to right the wrongs of generations," said Tim Burgess, a retired Seattle mayor and city councilman credited with creating the Seattle Preschool Program.

The new study showed ongoing pregnancy occurred in 36 per cent of women in the frozen group, and in 35 per cent in the fresh group. Live birth rates were also on par, at 34 per cent in the frozen group, and 32 per cent in the fresh group.

The high court's ruling could have broader implications for a series of cases pitting Republicans, seeking to root out alleged voter fraud, against Democrats who claim minorities and the poor -- who tend to lean left -- are having their voting rights suppressed.
Authorities have said that Ho and a co-defendant conspired in October 2014 to bribe the African government officials after wiring almost $1 million through New York's banking system. They say the Ugandan scheme was created at the United Nations in New York when Uganda's current foreign minister served as president of the U.N. General Assembly.

Most northern U.S. refiners are not reporting problems. Phillips 66 shut a crude and coking unit at its Wood River, Illinois, refinery after a frozen line and short-lived fire, a source said on Wednesday. It did not have a timeline for restarting the units at the Illinois plant, the source said.

A court in Ho Chi Minh City sentenced 15 people to between five and 16 years in jail after they were convicted of planting petrol bombs at Tan Son Nhat international airport in the commercial southern hub, state-controlled Thanh Nien newspaper reported.
