April 26 & 27, 2008
Syracuse, NY
On April 26th and 27th of 2008 Syracuse will be host to a firearms skillshare. The purpose of this training is to demystify guns and impart knowledge for the skills involved in handling a firearm. We will teach in the spirit of DIY (Do It Yourself) and empower others to learn a skill that can indeed be valuable. The atmosphere will be open and welcoming with no tolerance for racist, sexist or homophobic comments or actions of any kind. We feel this knowledge will be especially useful for those who are wholly unfamiliar or uncomfortable with firearms thanks to many (often true) stereotypes associated with them. Please join us and feel free to ask any questions that may come to mind!
Guns exist. People have them. Our sole interest is to teach others about them. We are not here to fetishize firearms or get drawn into ideological arguments regarding their place in society. Because guns exist and because people have them, we feel it is in everyone’s best interest to know basic gun safety, know how to identify them and their capabilities, and to acquire familiarity with common guns.
